Celebrating Our 65th year in 2017
In 2017 our members were given the opportunity to celebrate the Guild’s Anniversary by installing a display in the gallery of Orinda Library. This was our introductory statement:
“The creation of cloth is so basic to human culture that most don’t think about where cloth comes from, let alone how it is produced. There are many of us, however, who still carry on the ancient craft of creating fabric. In many areas of the world there are people who still spin their own thread then weave it into cloth. Some by necessity, others to keep their cultural traditions alive.
Our members too, are concerned with keeping this part of all our craft histories alive and productive. Even while creating contemporary cloth, we imbue it with the spirit of the past.”
